FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

Responsible for the development, coordination, and operation of Sauk Valley Community College’s student recruitment into the Career Technical Trades programs. Assist fundraising efforts in western Whiteside County. Assist fundraising efforts with businesses and local manufacturers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a comprehensive Career and technical education student recruitment program by communicating with and visiting area middle schools, high schools, and communities. Plan and provide for activities and communications with potential students and parents. Represent SVCC to recruit potential students at activities such as job and trade fairs, community activities, and area businesses. Coordinate services and activities with other College departments which enhance recruitment activities and connect the College with prospective students. Identify strategic priorities for which funding is required; develop the funding equation to provide for them. Oversee the deployment of strategic and operational goals for public and private fundraising. Recruit and nurture volunteers to raise and manage funds on behalf of the SVCC Foundation and the College. Lead/engage in friend-raising and fundraising. Engage professionals and volunteers to assist in the College’s public policy efforts at local, regional, state, and national levels. Promote the Impact Program to students and parents who are interested in WACC and SVCC’s Career Trades Program. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor. Assist with public speaking on behalf of the Impact Program and Foundation. Assist in prospect research for fundraising campaigns. Cultivate major gift prospects, investing the necessary time and energy to build relationships designed to understand the donor/prospect goals with the expressed purpose of alignment with college mission and objectives. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Must understand and support the mission of the community college.
  2. Must have strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively by phone and email on a daily basis.
  4. Must be able to provide and understand verbal/visual information from supervisors and to local community area personnel and the general public.
  5. Must be able to work with Microsoft Office and Google products.
  6. Must be technologically competent and able to learn new software applications.
  7. Must be able to operate office equipment proficiently.
  8. Must have bookkeeping and budgeting skills.
  9. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.

PERSONAL INTERACTION:

Frequent interaction and personal contact with all levels of College personnel, community leaders, business executives, facilitators, the general public, students, and outside organizations (usually the first line of communication).

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree with two years of responsible office experience or equivalent education and experience required. Demonstrated success in computer and interpersonal communication skills, ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and attention to accuracy required. Must demonstrate excellent writing and verbal skills

This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems.
