Vice President of Advancement






Full-time Professional-Technical




The Sauk Valley Community College Videographer is responsible for all video production and editing produced by SVCC. The Videographer serves as a key team member and an active participant in establishing the infrastructure and overall planning, of multimedia development of the college’s videography. In collaboration with marketing and academics, the Videographer plans, organizes and implements multimedia to continue and expand the success of resource development initiatives, including, but not limited to, commercials, commencement, student activities, online teaching and learning.


  1. Plan, coordinate, create, edit and produce all videography for the college including for Marketing, Academics, Athletics, Foundation, and Community Partnerships.
  1. Design, transport, sets up, and operates production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field and studio productions.
  2. Ensure quality of sound, light, and clarity of all videos.
  3. Conceive of and develop creative solutions for addressing college initiatives and strategic goals through audiovisual assets
  4. Execute shoots on site/on location including audio, camera operation and talent directions. Additionally, the Videographer handles assignments requiring special lighting, multiple locations, creativity, special audio needs, custom graphics and animation.
  5. Scout shoot locations and assesses possible obstacles in filming and provides solutions or alternatives.
  6. Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni, college partners and others and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured.
  7. Plans and performs video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, adding photographs, motion pictures, motion graphics, animation, audio and music, and final editing using Adobe Premiere or appropriate software; utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts; compresses/encodes video projects for output; makes video products available in a variety of formats; observes brand standards, ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product; and coordinates internal and external duplication services as required.
  8. Create and enforce video and photography branded looks.
  9. Design a multimedia studio that allows flexibility between video, music/sound recording and photography. 
  10. Train employees and students on equipment and software to photograph and video SVCC athletes, sporting events, staff.
  11. Develop story board and list of shots.
  12. Review projects performed by employees and students to make sure they meet branding and quality expectations.
  13. Utilize connections within the community to grow a working studio producing income to grow the SVCC Foundation fund.
  14. Set pricing for public businesses to utilize the studio and staff for projects.
  15. Help faculty, staff, and students create intriguing educational videos for student learning and promotional materials.
  16. Assumes all other reasonable and professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Frequent contact is made with all levels of College personnel, students, the general public and outside organizations in relation to routine departmental services and duties and in providing appropriate assistance and information as requested.


No supervision is required.


A bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a minimum of six (ten?) years of progressively responsible professional experience in multimedia, photography, videography, or a related area.  




Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems. May serve as a member of a committee that supports the health, safety and/or legal rights of visitors, students and staff. Such committees may include the AA/EEO, Sexual Harassment, and Safety/Loss Control committees. (Risk Management Categories I, III, IV. See Tort file.)
