Radiological Technology Clinical Coordinator

Coordinate the educational services in the clinical setting to achieve equity of student clinical experience according to the established standards of the Radiological Technology Program at Sauk Valley Community College.


  1. Coordinate clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  2. Instrumental in the development and implementation of program goals, clinical objectives, and clinical evaluation systems.
  3. Evaluate and facilitate clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular visits to the clinical education sites.
  4. Facilitate and/or provide appropriate direct and indirect supervision of the students in a clinical setting.
  5. Facilitate clinical competency evaluation system for students assigned to the clinical site.
  6. Participate in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain relative professional competence.
  7. Meet regularly with program officials to maintain current documentation of student€™s clinical progress.
  8. Coordinate and maintain student clinical records, including confidentiality of all records in accordance with program policy.
  9. Participate in meetings and serve on committees consistent with goals of the educational program.
  10. Implement and/or assist in clinical rotations which allow students to achieve course objectives.
  11. Establish standard methods for evaluation of student clinical performance and quality assurance.
  12. Maintain professional competency within the scope of practice for the relevant area of study.
  13. Function within the position description of instructor, as designed by the program coordinator.
  14. Provide or facilitate student guidance and academic counseling as appropriate.
  15. Recommend to the Coordinator policies and procedures designed to improve the quality of Rad Tech program.
  16. Hold membership in appropriate professional organizations; attend and participate in local, State, and national Rad Tech organizations, workshops, and seminars.
  17. Attend meetings as called by the Coordinator.
  18. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Radiological Technology Coordinator.


  1. Must be able to communicate by telephone on a daily basis.
  2. Must be able to provide and understand verbal/visual orders from supervisor and to subordinates.
  3. Must be able to operate computers.
  4. Must have access to transportation to travel to various clinical sites located throughout the College District.
  5. Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be certified in CPR.


Frequent interaction and personal contact with health agencies, facilitators, the general public and outside organizations (usually the first line of communication). Daily contact made with all levels of College personnel.




Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. American Registry of Radiological Technologists certification and registration and State licensing through IEMA required. One year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program required. Equivalent of two years full-time experience in Radiological Technology with proficiency in curriculum development, program administration, instruction, evaluation, and counseling required. Knowledge of current Radiological Technology/Diagnostic Imaging methods and ability to instruct students in proper use of equipment required.




Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems. May serve as a member of a committee that supports the health, safety and/or legal rights of visitors, students and staff. Such committees may include the AA/EEO, Sexual Harassment, and Safety/Loss Control committees. (Risk Management Categories I, III, IV. See Tort file.)
