FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

Serves as the Chief Information Officer, Chief Data Privacy Officer, and Chief Information Security Officer of the College. The major areas of responsibility include supervision and administration of College-wide computing and information services, telecommunications, instructional technology, and cybersecurity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as the Chief Information Officer, Chief Data Privacy Officer, and Chief Information Security Officer for the College.
  2. Oversee the purchase, installation, maintenance, and security of all administrative and academic technologies including computers, printers, copiers, and communication.
  3. Oversee the purchase, installation, maintenance, and security of College software, including the student information system, document management system, and learning management system.
  4. Administer and provide recommendations for policy and procedures concerning information services, technology, and communications.
  5. Stay updated on IT trends and emerging technologies.
  6. Develop and apply IT best practices across the institution.
  7. Ensure IT strategies and processes support institutional goals.
  8. Oversee relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  9. Administer and provide recommendations for policy and procedures concerning information security and privacy. (5%*)
  10. Chair the Information Security Committee, maintain the Information Security Plan, and prepare the annual Information Security report to the President and the Board. (5%*)
  11. Maintain the Information Security Response Plan and direct the response to any security incidents. (3%*)
  12. Oversee threat and vulnerability assessments and ensure that the College has sufficient controls and mitigations to reduce risk. (7%*)
  13. Serve as a member of the administrative team, including service on the President’s Cabinet and Leadership Council.
  14. Represent the College in local, state, and regional organizations and maintain contacts with outside agencies as appropriate.
  15. Prepare annual budget requests; manage and maintain the budgets for supervised areas.
  16. Develop annual goals and objectives for supervised areas.
  17. Serve as night administrator on a rotating basis. (3%*)
  18. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Must understand and support the mission of the community college.
  2. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively by phone and email on a daily basis.
  4. Must be able to provide verbal/visual presentations.
  5. Must be able to work with computers.
  6. Must be able to work non-standard hours.

PERSONAL INTERACTION:

Frequent contact is made with all levels of College personnel, students, the general public, and outside organizations in relation to routine departmental services and duties and in providing appropriate assistance and information as requested.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over the Director of Infrastructure and User Services, Director of Software and User Services, and the Assistant to Information and Security.

REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field with five to seven years of experience in Information Technology required. Certificated Information Privacy Professional certification is required or the ability to obtain certification within one year.

TORT LIABILITY STATEMENT:

Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems. May serve as a member of a committee that supports the health, safety and/or legal rights of visitors, students and staff.
