Effective Women Leaders...

  1. Don't make excuses.
  2. Aren't perfectionists: they realize that getting work done well an on time is much more important than doing it perfectly.
  3. Go beyond the minimum expectations.
  4. Follow through on their own.
  5. Anticipate problems.
  6. Are resilient about foul-ups.
  7. Take care of problems rather than passing their solution on to others - especially their supervisors.
  8. Are on time and present unless absolutely necessary.
  9. Aren't the "squeaking wheel".
  10. Don't carry grudges.
  11. Choose their battles carefully.
  12. Deal directly with the person who can make the decision rather that wasting her time with individuals who can't.
  13. Solve their own problems whenever possible.
  14. Learn what other people in the organization are doing.
  15. Get along with their co-workers.
  16. Let others win sometimes.
  17. Learn timing.
  18. Don't lie.
  19. Read appropriate professional and trade publications.
  20. Get to know their peers.
  21. Use common sense.
