From our humble beginnings as a small discount retailer in Rogers, Ark., Walmart has opened thousands of stores in the U.S. and expanded internationally. Through innovation, we're creating a seamless experience to let customers shop anytime and anywhere online, through mobile devices and in stores. We are creating opportunities and bringing value to customers and communities around the globe. Walmart operates over 11,500 retail units under 63 banners in 28 countries and e-commerce websites in 11 countries. We employ 2.3 million associates around the world — 1.5 million in the U.S. alone.

At Walmart Logistics, where you start is never where you end up. We’ve created strategic career paths that constantly offer opportunities to move forward. With over 85,000 associates across more than 160 distribution centers, we think we’re doing something right. Stick with us. We’ll get you where you want to be.

The Sterling Walmart Grocery Distribution Center employees 832 associates which includes 58 maintenance personnel. Our maintenance staff consists of 3 different levels of mechanics starting at level 1 General Maintenance, level 2 Maintenance Technician, and level 3 Multi Skill. With each level comes an increased responsibility role as well as a pay increase.
Our facility sits on 150 acres of land, the building totals 901,000 square feet with half being dry storage and the other half being refrigerated perishable. We service 152 Walmart stores and 41 Sam’s Clubs. Our building has 147 dock doors, 300 pieces of mobile power equipment, a refrigeration system with over 70,000 pounds of ammonia, and a state of the art fully automated mechanized service retrieval system.

A Multicraft intern at Walmart would be assigned to the facility’s maintenance department and assist the maintenance team in all aspects of the business to include preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair, PLC logic, motor starters, frequency drive controllers and inverters. The intern will be trained on our industry leading maintenance management system which tracks all the buildings assets, parts and PM roll out and scheduling. We provide monthly training for all mechanics to continue their personal development. Projects could be assigned to the intern based on building needs and demands.
