Purpose:
Founded as a non-profit organization in 1974, Lee County Council on Aging provides services and programs to Lee County seniors and disabled individuals, helping them to remain independent. Our center, located in Dixon, IL, is the only senior center in Lee County, allowing for a place of fellowship, crafts, games, computer lab, tax aid, senior trips, Elder Benefits Services, and more. We also provide dedicated senior transportation to the surrounding areas. Services Provided: Our Elder Benefits Specialist's (located in our Outreach Department) assist with income saving programs such as Benefit Access, Tax Assessment Freeze, Medicaid, SNAP, Extra Help, Medicare Savings Programs, and more. We aid in Respite and GAP Services for Caregivers and individuals when grant money is available. / We have certified Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors to help educate you on all of your Medicare questions and Part D or Medicare Advantage plan enrollments. / We are an ITAC test center, connecting you with free amplified phones and Bluetooth cellular devices through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC). / Acting as this area's Aging and Disabled Resource Center (ADRC) we have a Notary on-site and staff that are CRS - A/D certified by AIRS and can help you find the resources you are looking for.
