Volleyball Coaches
Head Coach Jay Howell
Jay Howell is in his 13th season at the helm of the Sauk Valley volleyball program, compiling a record of 322-153. After finishing runner-up three times, the Skyhawks finally broke through as Region 4 champions and national qualifiers in 2014. Since then, Skyhawks have advanced to the NJCAA national tournament six of the past eight seasons, with a 6th place finish in 2016, an 8th place finish in 2017 and consecutive 5th place finishes in 2020 and 2021. Howell has coached 9 All-Americans and 11 Academic All-Americans
Prior to coming to the Skyhawks, Howell coached volleyball for 11 years at Newman Central Catholic High School and Excess Volleyball Club. Howell holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, and is employed by American Surveying and Engineering as Vice President of Engineering. Jay resides in Dixon with his wife Sue. They have seven children and eleven grandchildren.
Assistant Coach Hannah Wilson
Hannah Wilson is returning for her 2nd season as the Assistant Volleyball Coach for the Skyhawks. She played middle blocker for Sauk in seasons 2018 & 2019 leading her team in kill blocks per set & was awarded First Team All-Conference. Formerly, she attended Newman Central Catholic High School. In 2020, after graduating from Sauk, she continued to be a part of the volleyball program as a volunteer coach. Hannah is a resident of Dixon, IL & co-owns a local thrift shoppe, Rack City.
