Sauk Announces Student-Athletes of the Year

Sauk Valley Community College recently announced the first ever Skyhawk Student-Athlete of the Year. Student-athletes, coaches and administrators comprised the voting process to determine the winners for the 2021-22 academic year. Voting was based on nominations submitted by the head coach of each sport. A male and female student-athlete was selected based on their performances during the season.

For the Skyhawk men, Men’s Golfer Jacob Rude was chosen. Rude (Newman Central Catholic) has been an NJCAA National Qualifier in golf in each of the last three years. He has twice been selected as All-Conference in the Arrowhead Athletic Conference and has been named to the Dean’s List (3.5 GPA or
higher) multiple times.

On the women’s side, Track & Field/Volleyball standout Kiley Sanders was selected. Sanders (Newman Central Catholic) recently earned All-American status in track & field at the recent NJCAA Championships in the heptathlon. She currently holds 12 school records in track & field. She was also a 2021 Volleyball All-American and a member of the President’s List (3.75 GPA or higher) multiple times.
